Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to open higher; Wipro Q4 nos eyed

Domestic bourses are expected to open higher on Wednesday as SGX Nifty is up nearly 200 points from Monday's close. Investors will today react to the government's decision to extend the nation-wide lockdown till May 3 as well as other Covid-19 related newsflow and March quarter results. Cases in India are on the rise and have surpassed 11,000 with death toll nearing 400. Globally, 130,000 people have died from Covid-19 and confirmed infections have exceeded 1.9 million.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund, Barclays, and Nomura have revised downwards India's growth projections, which will also impact sentiment.
Further, Wipro is slated to announce its Q4 numbers later in the day and most brokerages expect the company's revenue growth to come in at the lower end of the guided range of 0-2 per cent in the constant currency terms.
On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 30690.02 down by -469.6 points or by -1.51 % and then NSE Nifty was at 8993.85 down by -118.05 points.
